Is home roasting worth it?

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

The more you get into coffee the more you want to be in control of what ends up in your cup.

You would probably have started drinking coffee by using instant coffee.

You probably progressed to buying ground coffee for use in a filter machine or cafetiere.

Was your next step to buy coffee beans and grind them yourself? If so, where do you go from there?

How about roasting your own beans; short of growing your own coffee, roasting coffee is the highest level of involvement you are likely to achieve.

Home roasting is only practised by a very small percentage of coffee drinkers and may seem like a step too far, but take the plunge and don’t look back.

Having just purchased a Hottop home roasting machine, we will be bringing you more information on roasting coffee beans at home very soon.
